Suffolk solicitors firm EV charging solution reduces annual car fuel costs by 53%

Going electric reduces company carbon footprint by 2.2 tonnes

Case study

Our project team fitted an EV charging solution, including 2 chargers, sundries and consumables. They also upgraded the distribution board and routed the power to street level to facilitate the project.

This move to electric car charging reduced their carbon footprint by 2.2 tonnes, and reduces annual car fuel costs by 53%.

The payback for this project is 2.4 years.

The Client

Burnett Barker Solicitors are based in Bury St Edmunds and have been providing expert practical legal advice from town centre offices since 1979. The team of lawyers includes members of The Law Society, Conveyancing Quality Scheme, Resolution, and The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners. Between them, they have many decades of experience and are supported by a large, dedicated team.

The Brief

Daryl Griffiths, Chief Executive at Burnett Barker Solicitors, made first contact with SaveMoneyCutCarbon through the EV section on the company website and the EV specialists followed up.

Simon Blaaser, Head of E-Mobility at SaveMoneyCutCarbon and EV Sales Executive Archie Reed arranged an online video call with the CEO to discuss his requirements, and to gather base information for an indicative quote. The E-Mobility team followed up with a site visit to map out options and plan the installation.

Daryl is running his second plug-in hybrid vehicle while another colleague was switching to a full EV. With this in mind, he felt the time was right to install EV chargers at the head office in Bury St Edmunds.

The move to electric vehicles means that the company benefits from zero excise duty, as well as lower fuel costs and reduced carbon footprint. The benefit-in-kind tax on EVs is also much lower than fossil fuel cars, at just 2%, compared with a range of 22-37% for fossil-fuel models.

And while the EV charging infrastructure is expanding across the country, having a bespoke system at the place of work is still the most efficient and cost-effective way to charge.

The Solution

2 x Easee One Single Phase Chargers, supplied and installed with sundries and consumables.

The installation team upgraded a smaller distribution board to accommodate the EV chargers and routed the power from the basement up to street level. The full Installation was completed in one day.

The Easee One is beautifully compact and one of the most versatile EV chargers. Easee One was designed to comply with UK regulations and provides a charge that is up to 3 times faster than with a regular outlet. It charges on a single-phase power and supports charging up to 7.4kW. It also has a Type 2 universal charging connector.

Intelligent design, simple-to-use features and will adapt to all electric vehicles, power supplies and mains. No need to think about technical specifications – the Easee One will automatically detect what power the vehicle requires.

The One also comes with an integrated eSim with a free lifetime subscription to enable over the air updates and smart connectivity. It is also updated with new features continuously. This way, you know that you have purchased a safe and future-proof product.

Integrated RFID is also included adding an extra layer of user security. The free app allows full control over the charger, whether at the office, at home or on the go. Users can check the status, start and pause charging, schedule a charge, lock the cable and much more.
